About Bergen Trip

Bergen Trip exists to help travellers plan a trip to Bergen and western Norway without the marketing hype. We cover Bryggen and the Fløibanen funicular, but also the things most travel blogs skip: which fjord cruise is actually worth booking, how to self-book Norway in a Nutshell for 30–40% less than the package price, and whether the Bergen Card saves you money on your specific itinerary.

Our mission

Most travel content about Bergen either comes from official tourist boards (promotional by design) or is written by bloggers who visited once in summer. We aim for something different: specific recommendations, real prices in NOK and EUR, honest caveats about weather and season, and itineraries you can actually follow — including what to do when Bergen does what it always does, and it rains.

We cover Bergen's neighbourhoods, the classic fjord day trips (Mostraumen, Nærøyfjord, Hardangerfjord, Norway in a Nutshell), the Flåm Railway, multi-day hikes (Trolltunga, Preikestolen), and multi-day western Norway routes for travellers with more time.

Who we are

Bergen Trip is published by Agence Xen, a small digital agency based in Geneva, Switzerland. We build and operate independent travel guides across Europe. Our editorial process is research-based: we combine on-the-ground experience with verified data (ferry timetables, entry prices, seasonal route availability, real NOK costs) before publishing.

We do not accept sponsored content, press trips or paid placements. Our recommendations are our own. The only revenue model is the affiliate programme described below.

Editorial principles

  • Honest about costs. Norway is one of Europe's most expensive countries. We publish real NOK prices — not rounded approximations — and update them regularly. Where we are uncertain, we say so and point to the primary source.
  • Honest about the rain. Bergen gets around 230 rainy days per year. We do not pretend otherwise. Every itinerary includes a rain contingency.
  • Honest about the northern lights. Bergen is at 60.4°N. You need Kp 4+ and clear skies. Go to Tromsø if aurora is your priority. We will not pretend Bergen is something it is not.
  • GetYourGuide and Viator affiliation, declared. We earn commissions when you book tours through our links. We only link to tours we have reviewed and consider worth the money. Our affiliate relationship is disclosed on every page that contains booking links, and in full detail on our affiliate disclosure page.
  • Sentence case, no clickbait. We write like a knowledgeable friend, not a content farm.

How we earn revenue

Bergen Trip is a free resource. We earn a commission when you book tours and activities through our GetYourGuide affiliate links and our Viator affiliate links (Partner ID: P00305208, a Tripadvisor company). This costs you nothing extra — you pay exactly the same price as you would booking directly. The commission comes from the platform, not from you.

We do not use pop-ups, display advertising, email capture, or any other monetisation method. Read the full affiliate disclosure for details on how this works.
